Very Strange Dynamips Problem
Hi:
Could you pls. paste the config here for both the ports from Router and Switch and output of ’show arp’.. Looks like one of the port is configured in Trunk mode and virtual interface of VLAN or sub-interface (Router on Stick) is not configured properly.
I experience where two routers were connected with two different switches and switches connected thru Dot1q trunk and at times ARP is coming ‘uncomplete’. I found the problem is created due to the high cpu of my PC, sometimes it was working and sometimes not. But in your case you getting the ‘Encapsulation’ error which looks to be configuration issue only.
Cheers!!

Hi GS:
Wondering if anyone else has had similar issues with dynamips. I have R1 Fa0/0 directly connected to SW1 Fa1/1. Show cdp neighbors verifies this. I get an encapsulation failed message when I try to ping R1 from SW1. R1 has a ARP entry for SW1, but SW1 does not have an entry for R1. I have hard coded the speed and duplex settings to 100MBPS full duplex, still nothing. What am I doing wrong? Like I say, if anyone else has had similar issues with dynamips, I would appreciate your help. Thanks very much in advance.
