Very basic qs - How multcast ping choose the source interface


Hi Backbone,
Just do “deb ip pack det”. It will show you that the router will send a copy to each ip-enabled interface using each interface IP address as the source.
The story is different on the receiving side (RPF check, group membership ..etc)……
Rack1R1#deb ip pack det IP packet debugging is on (detailed) Rack1R1#ping 224.1.1.1
Type escape sequence to abort. Sending 1, 100-byte ICMP Echos to 224.1.1.1, timeout is 2 seconds:
