My prof back in uni soo believed in this Grid buzz….he almost tricked me into developing a grid calculator, as he called it …..thank god I did something instead as my project.
While it is true, the grid might take over the Internet, it will still be called the network of all networks (some already call it the Internet II, or the ggg….like ggg.cisco.com, LOL! I always laughed when he said that), hey, isnt that what the Internet already is? The Internet is here to stay till the end of time guys. Wether its called the Internet, or the Grid, or watever they call it, it will still be the same if you asked me.
Guess what the current Grid runs on at the moment??? TCP/IP. CCIE’s still rule as far as I am concerned. The Grid is somehow supposed to imcompass all kind of devices, from home PCs to mobile phones, to TV at home, to all kind of devices that have some CPU cycles to donate to someone across the globe who needs it. Now, this brings us to the issue of CONVERGENCE.
The idea would be to converge mobile, data, powerline, telephone, satellite, TV networks all together. Presently, what is the trend as far as network convergence is concerned? I see all this moving towards IP guys and this shows CCIE’s will still have jobs as far as I can see….
