sparse-dense mode clarification

Never mind… I seem to have finally found the answer with sparse-mode needing the ip pim autorp listener command to be able to pick up the RP-Discovery messages (via dense mode) or using sparse-dense mode to use dense-mode to pick up the RP information. Thanks anyways!

Hi All,
I was looking for a clarification on the “catch-22″ rule with Auto RP that sparse-dense mode solves. I know sparse-dense mode will use DM to find the RP and use SM for everything else once the RP is known. But how is that any different (in the general concept of things) when SM uses the RP-Announce message sent to the Mapping Agent and the Mapping Agent uses the RP-Discovery message to inform all the routers of the groups that the RP has? Is it more in the configuration between the two? Not exactly sure what I am missing and I have looked in various places for an easier explanation of it and why it would be more beneficial to use sparse-dense mode over sparse-mode. Also, is it more standard in the real world to use the sparse-dense mode application over the sparse-mode? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
