SFP module recommendation for 3560 switch
Are the ports going into “errdisable”.
They have a mechanism that will put the port into “errdisable” when it detects a GBIC or SFP that is from another vendor than Cisco.
There is a hidden command that will resolve this issue. See below.
Enables the use of third-party SFP or GBIC modules on Cisco switches but note the warning below.
Example output:
Switch(config)#service unsupported-transceiver
Warning: When Cisco determines that a fault or defect can be traced to
the use of third-party transceivers installed by a customer or reseller,
then, at Cisco’s discretion, Cisco may withhold support under warranty or
a Cisco support program. In the course of providing support for a Cisco
networking product Cisco may require that the end user install Cisco
transceivers if Cisco determines that removing third-party parts will
assist Cisco in diagnosing the cause of a support issue.

Hi,
Looking for a recommendation on SFP modules compatible with Cisco 3560 switches to interconnect it to the GBIC on a 3550 switch. I tried a Finisar ftrj-8519-7 but it’s not working with the Cisco 3550 GBIC (1000 base SX 850nm). I see lights on the TX side of the fiber on each GBIC but ports show down/down. Any recommendations for where to purchase or part numbers are appreciated.
