OSPF Area Type Question

Mike.
for the following:
“When he says I need Default route + No specific routes + Redistribution happening but we don’t need these re-distributed routes can I use: area 1 stub no-summary or I have to use area 1 nssa no-summary no-redistibution and why?”
First, you you are comparing a NSS area and a STUB area, I assume you know the difference of a stub versus a NSS area right?? (the first permits external prefies within the NSS area as TYPE 7, the second does not permit externas prefixes at all within the stub area), so I The use of both command options depends whether you are using a STUB versus a NSS area, and where you are doing the redistribution?? in the ABR (ASBR ALSO) router or in a router from the backbone or other area connected to the backbone (not the stub or nss area).
For a Stub AREA (THE ABR IS DOING REDISTRIBUTION) Default route + No specific routes
ABR ROUTER:
router ospf 1 area 1 stub no-summary
Thus the routers within the stub area only installs a default route (blocked type 3 and 5 lsas)
For a NSS AREA (THE ABR IS DOING REDISTRIBUTION) Default route + No specific routes + Redistribution
router ospf 1 area 1 nssa no-summary The routers within the nss area only installs a default route as well as the redistributed prefixes from the ABR now ASBR ALSO.
For a NSS AREA (THE ABR IS DOING REDISTRIBUTION) Default route + No specific routes + NO Redistribution
router ospf 1 area 1 nssa no-summary no-redistribution The routers within the nss area only installs a default route. Now the prefixes redistributed from the NSS ABR ROUTER DESSAPEAR from the link state database.

If you are doing the redist in the ABR (ALSO ASBR) Connected to the backbone and connected to the STUB AREA, those routes are redistributed
