DHCP config question

I just completed a task (IE WB2 Lab7 - Task 11.1 - DHCP) and it appears my config was correct with the exception of a small difference. In my solution i excluded IP’s ranging from the 1st usable (not including the network) and to the last usable (not including the broadcast) of the network block for dhcp … the solution included the .0 and .255 addresses … is this needed? I would assume the router would not assign network and broadcast addresses to clients default … i guess including them is no harm but just want to know if it’s really needed.
Thanks
